6 Minutes
short comedy
Running Time: 00:09:58
6Minutes is a comedy that examines life and death and the twists of fate that lie in between. The story unfolds in a low-brow Chinese restaurant. Our heroes Jay Jackman and Kaspar Schick wait impatiently for their dinner while the proprietor Mr. Li tries to placate an angry patron. After what seems like an eternity a curmudgeonly cook brings out an arm-full of orders. Jackman and Kaspar are quick to grab theirs and retire to a table. Jackman goes immediately for his fortune. It says, 'You have six minutes to live!' Jackman can't believe his misfortune. He knows the cookies' predictions are uncannily accurate. Kaspar's incredulous. I mean, it's just a fortune cookie, right? He notes his friend's unease and takes the opportunity to make him squirm. The pair discuss the nature of fate and choice as Jackman's last remaining minutes tick away. But as death approaches, fate plays yet another trick: Jackman took the wrong order! Mr. Li recovers the misplaced meal from Jackman and returns it to the angry patron, who huffs off out the door. It suddenly dawns on Jackman that the dismal fortune was not meant for him, but for the cranky customer. He leaps up and bangs heartily on the window, trying desperately to warn the man of his impending doom. Distracted by the banging, the man turns as he steps into the street just in time to get catapulted into the air by a passing car. You're going to Hell, my friend. --Kaspar
