Irene
Irene is a desperately plain, lonely woman in her 40’s who suffers from a debilitating physical illness. Her loving, but obtuse, mother, can’t understand “..why my daughter doesn’t want a man”. In her misguided efforts to find love, Irene works at night for a telephone sex company. Each evening when she returns to her lonely apartment, Irene engages in a ritual of preparation and once on the phone, will not engage in conversation without the man first expressing his “love” for her. One night she receives two calls: each of an entirely different nature, but which, in combination, will irretrievably, and possibly disastrously, alter her life the next day.
