Searching for Peace in the Middle East is a vivid and compassionate portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Through the voices of Israelis and Palestinians of diverse backgrounds, it explores the issues that divide them and reveals their hopes and fears. It describes in a compelling way a common yearning for peace, pointing the way toward a resolution of this tragic conflict that would meet the deepest needs of both societies, and it calls for new American diplomatic leadership. The film offers poignant and revealing images of the Middle East and provides extensive insight into life in both Israel and the Palestinian territories. Bolling explores this issue while interviewing a series of involved Palestinians, Israelis, and activists. Hanan Ashrawi of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Naomi Chazan - the former Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Daniel Taub of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, and Mahmoud El Zahar of Hamas delve into the issue from the lens of policy-makers and officials. Rabbi Arik Ascherman shares his experiences as a Jew campaigning for human rights and justice on both sides of the conflict. Palestinians and settlers alike openly discuss with Bolling their views on and experiences with the security barrier and the settlements. Rami Elhanan of the Israeli-Palestinian Circle of Bereaved Families explains the pain of losing a child to political violence. Through these images and discussions, Searching for Peace in the Middle East offers an engaging and information exploration of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
