My Last Confession
short comedy
Running Time: 22
My Last Confession is set in the late 1960s and takes place entirely in a Catholic Church. It tells the story of thirteen-year-old Danny Riley who, along with his Mother, is waiting in the nearly empty church one evening to go to confession. Danny is fascinated by the church customs of the times. He wonders why all women must wear head coverings, resorting to kleenex or toilet paper if they have forgotten to bring a hat. Why do so many old ladies like to go to confession? What do they have to confess, anyway? And why do they all dye their hair blue? Dannys flippant manner disguises his apprehension about confessing the most grievous sin of all impure thoughts and deeds. He is at first relieved that the priest he is to confess to is new in the parish and therefore will not recognize his voice in the darkness of the confessional. But afterwards Dannys fears seem all too real.
